Sculptures and Psychology
Mass and space are the two inseparable elements of any sculpture. Also, all sculptures are made of a substance that exists in a three dimensional space. Thus, space associates with a sculpture in three ways :
1. The elemental unit of the sculpture moves through the space by occupying it.
2. Creating cavity within the sculpture by enclosing space.
3. May exist across the space.
And in each case, one can not see the entire sculpture from one point. One would need to move around the artefact in order to see it from all sides. This very feature of a sculpture bestows upon the viewer a sense of holistic view.
Having your space adorned with sculptures finds you live by this trait of looking at the larger picture in a given situation. This is so as you have been trained by the sculptures in your dwelling
place to go around them in order to enjoy their presence.
On seeing a sculpture, you are either reminded of someone, something or you associate it with anything on your mind - a colour, some artwork, animals and birds, a dress, a compliment, the cover of a book, a brand etcetera. This stimulates your cranial function and charges your neurons with activity.
The sight of sculptures improve your spatial awareness, that means you become more aware of and your body's position vis a vis the objects around you. Crafts, art and particularly sculptures soothe your mind. Aesthetic pleasure amplifies good mental health.
As per the psychology of art, beauty is one pathway towards God as you establish a rapport with beauty and start expanding this relationship out into into the expanse of the universe. And that, invokes the divine.
